Leaf Guards & Gutter Protection for the Mat-Su Valley

Keep Debris Out. Keep Water Moving.

Open gutters can quickly collect spruce needles, birch leaves, roof grit and other debris. Once that material builds up, water may overflow instead of traveling through the gutter and downspouts where it belongs.

Alaska Fix It installs gutter protection systems throughout Wasilla, Palmer and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley to help reduce debris buildup and keep your gutter system flowing.

Already have gutters? We can inspect your existing system to determine whether leaf guards can be added or whether repairs should be completed first.

Installing Gutter Guards in Palmer and Wasilla Alaska

Why Leaf Guards Make Sense in the Mat-Su Valley

Our trees and changing seasons can put a surprising amount of material into an open gutter.

Gutter protection can help reduce buildup from:

  • Spruce needles
  • Birch leaves
  • Seeds and small debris
  • Roof granules and grit
  • Wind-blown material

Keeping this material out of the gutter helps water reach the downspouts instead of backing up behind a clog.

Less Cleaning. Fewer Trips Up the Ladder.

Leaf guards can significantly reduce how often gutters need to be cleaned by keeping larger debris out of the gutter channel.

They are especially useful for homes surrounded by mature trees or properties where safely accessing the roofline is difficult.

No gutter protection system should be advertised as completely maintenance-free. Debris may occasionally collect on top of the guard and should still be inspected as needed.

Rain Barrel Diverters

Put Some of That Rainwater to Work

Instead of sending every gallon of roof runoff directly onto the ground, a rain barrel diverter can redirect a portion of the water flowing through your downspout into a rain barrel.

Collected rainwater can then be used for things such as:

  • Watering flowers
  • Landscaping
  • Trees and shrubs
  • Lawns
  • Other non-potable outdoor uses

When properly configured, the diverter sends water into the barrel during rainfall while providing a route for excess water once the barrel is full.

A Simple Addition to Your Gutter System

A typical setup includes:

GUTTER → DOWNSPOUT → DIVERTER → RAIN BARREL

When the barrel reaches capacity, excess water should continue through an appropriate overflow or drainage path rather than spilling against the foundation.

Rain-barrel water is not drinking water and should be treated as non-potable.

Gutter Cleaning

Skip the Ladder. Let Us Handle the Gutter Cleaning.

Cleaning gutters may look simple, but climbing a ladder while reaching, carrying tools, and working around a roof edge can turn into a serious fall risk—especially on uneven ground or in wet and icy conditions.

Regular gutter cleaning is important because leaves, spruce needles, roof grit, and other debris can block the flow of water. When gutters clog, water can overflow onto siding, landscaping, walkways, and areas around the foundation.

Professional gutter cleaning helps keep your system flowing properly and gives us a chance to spot issues like loose hangers, sagging sections, leaking corners, or clogged downspouts before they become bigger problems.

Protect your home—and stay off the ladder. Let Alaska Fix It take care of your gutter cleaning.
